FAQ
Will I have to fight
That is your choice the majority of students who join want to do fitness only, and there are allocates classes for fitness only. If you do want to compete, there are amateur and Pro circuits. We compete in MMA, K-1, Muay Thai and Boxing tournaments. You can get your WP and national colours, for K-1, and Boxing, and even compete internationally.
What ages do you teach? (Am I to young or old?)
We take kids from 5yrs old and our oldest member is 67
Do girls train at Panther?
Yes there are a number of Ladies training at Panther, in the Fitness, K-1, Muay Thai, Boxing BJJ and MMA Classes, but the K-1 and Fitness classes seem to be the most popular. Most of the ladies train for fitness and toning, but we have a number of ladies who fight for the gym, and we boast champions like Kerry and Gabby, who are the best fighters in South Africa, and have competed internationally.
Do I need to be fit to join?
No, we cater do all levels of fitness. The best classes for beginners are the K-1 beginners, Killer cardio or BJJ classes
Can I try a class before I sign up?
Absolutely! We offer 2 weeks free classes. Contact us to book your place. After your x2 free lessons you will receive a starter pack, with an explanation of how to become a member, kit you will need ect.
What should I wear?
Comfort is king – you need to be able to move freely. We have a full range of training gear available for sale. You will receive a starter pack you will receive a list of the kit needed for each sport/Art
What should I bring along?
Nothing initially, for the first x2 lessons just a towel and water, once you are a member you will need to bring your training kit . We have a full range of training gear available for sale.

How do I cancel my contract?
What if I lose my job?
Just give us your retrenchment letter and we will put your contract payments on hold until you find employment.What if I move or get injured?
If you move, you can give 1 months notice in writing and your contract will be cancelled. If you are injured, your contract will be placed on hold until you have recovered, please submit your injury details and recovery time in writing.

Are your trainers qualified?
I have personally selected the best trainers for every discipline, they are all at the top of their area of expertise and provide the best training available
How long will it take to get in the ring?
That depends on you the harder and more frequent you train the sooner you climb in the ring, your first fight is also against a beginner. It usally takes between 6-12 months to climb in the ring for your first fight. For more details contact Anthony for a fighters program 083 5929794
Do you manage Pro´s?
Our club boasts some of the best fighters in south Africa, and we mange and promote K-1, MMA, Boxing and Muay Thai fights and fighters. Please contact Anthony 083 5929794 to discuss a management contract and fight availability.
How do the Pro´s train?
Hard! They put in a min of 3-5 hours per day, run a min of 30 km per week, and are on special diets and supplements. Panther is known in the fight world to produce the fittest, strongest and some of the best fighters in South Africa and a number of our contracted fighters fight internationally
Are their toilets and showers?
Yes, and they are cleaned twice a day, so you can shower after you train.

How often are there tournaments?
There are K-1, Boxing, Muay Thai and MMA Tournaments on a monthly bases.

K-1
What is K-1Martial arts competition: a sport in which competitors utilize standing techniques from sports such as karate, kick-boxing, kung fu, and tae kwon do to determine the world's strongest martial artist k1 (sense 1) as the initial letter of karate, kung fu, and other martial arts. Panther enters these tournaments on an Amateur and Professional level, locally, nationally and internationally. The training for this style/rules of fighting consists of Pad work, Bag work, Fitness, Sparing and one on one training, it is physical and an excellent way to get fit. K-1 rules are similar to Muay Thai, but no elbow strikes are allowed, and you may only clinch for 5 seconds

MMA
What is MMAIt is a mixture of martial arts, incorporating the Stand-Up and Ground Arts. At Panther we suggest at least x2 ground fighting classes, 2 standup classes and 2 MMA classes p/w as an entry into the word of MMA. Although it is very physical, there are rules and safety does come first. This is a full contact sport, and competitions are held in a cage or in a ring

Thai Boxing/Muay Thai
What is Thai Boxing/Muay ThaiModern Thai boxers have an arsenal of eight weapons to choose from: fists, elbows, knees and feet. While it may be possible for a Muay Thai boxer to win a particular fight using exclusively just one of the weapons available to him, by properly mastering the use of each of his weapons he will be able to confidently face any opponent.

Yes, if you do the sparring, and one on one training. If you want to get fit but don't want the contact, this will be left out of the training program for you

Boxing
What is Boxing?The sport of fighting with fists: the sport of fighting with the fists, with the aim of knocking out the opposing boxer, or inflicting enough punishment to cause the other boxer to retire, or be judged defeated

This is aimed at fighters both amateur and professional, and those who want to get fit. It is excellent for self defense discipline and fitness

What are Fitness ClassesYou will do the non contact part of the training of K-1, Thai Boxing and Boxing. This will consist of padwork, bagwork, shadow boxing, skipping, medicine ball training, body weight exercises, pushups, sit-ups, squats, weights, stretching, etc

Jiu Jitsu
What is Jiu Jitsu?Jiu Jitsu is a grappling art. Grappling refers to the gripping, handling and controlling of an opponent without the use of striking, typically through the application of various grappling holds, choke holds, and counters to various hold attempts.
Who would do this?
Someone who wants to strengthen their body, and become more subtle, and someone who would like to learn to defend themselves on the ground. It is suited to all levels of fitness and all ages
