Russel @ Suwit Thai Boxing Camp

Situated in Chalong, Phuket, Suwit is a traditional Muay Thai camp that has been in operation for over 15 years. Foreigners are welcome to train there, but it is not as commercial as some of the other camps. The area is perfect, as there are no distractions (nightlife,etc..) in the immediate vicinity. But if you wish to explore the island, everything is accessible on a moped, alternatevly you could catch a taxi or bus. The owner Kittisak Wongwai speaks English and was most helpful, before and during my stay.Rooms with their own bathrooms and TV/DVD′s are available at reasonable rates. There are several trainers each with their own unique training methods, all of them really nice guys. Training is twice a day, six days a week. Two hours in the morning from 08:30am and two hours from 16:00pm There are two rings, and all training equipment is provided. I learned an immense amount in the month I was there, and highly recommend this experience to others wanting to improve their technique. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everybody at Suwit. For more info email Suwit Thai Boxing Camp

Panther Thai Boxing Academy develops Thai Boxing

Panther Thai Boxing Academy has donated 18 pairs of Thai Boxing shorts to Quinton Bernard, of the Western Province Thai Boxing and Kickboxing Association. Anthony Kettle head coach at Panther Thai Boxing Academy has decided to donate the shorts to the Western Province Thai Boxing and Kickboxing Association, as part of a development of the sport, Thai Boxing. Anthony says that he saw students from "The Under Dogs" in Eerste River competing in their boxers/underpants in a ThaiHolics tournament in Table view. Although the competitors did not have the correct equipment, they had heart, and after consulting with the Western Province Thai Boxing and Kickboxing Association it was decided that The Under Dogs, and a group of Street Kids taught by Quinton Bernard, would be the recipients of these gifts, as it was where it was most needed. Panther Thai Boxing Academy will soon be sponsoring a Previously Disadvantaged learner, as part of its development program. Thai Boxing is the most devastating stand-up fighting system today, and is quickly gaining recognition World Wide as "The Ultimate Fighting Art". Thai Boxers are highly skilled in 8 limbs weaponry: Feet, Knees, Elbows, and Fists, the stand-up neck wrestling (clinching), make Thai Boxing matches very intense. Thai Boxing techniques are an effective blend of simplicity and power, in addition with extraordinary physical conditioning.
